The Sewing Circle is a relaxed, open-format sewing gathering inspired by the traditional sewing bee. Bring your own project and enjoy a welcoming space to stitch, learn, and connect with others.
Laurel Schaffer, owner of VIV, will be on hand to help with technical questions, troubleshooting, and design guidance. Laurel is a fashion designer and multidisciplinary creative with deep expertise in textiles, garment construction, and design. Her background includes fine tailoring, hand sewing, draping, pattern customization, and surface texturing, along with college-level teaching in fashion and costume design. With experience working in sustainable apparel across the U.S. and internationally—including Kenya, Vietnam, France, and Oaxaca—Laurel brings both technical skill and a thoughtful design perspective to The Sewing Circle.
A limited number of sewing machines and basic sewing supplies will be available. All skill levels are welcome.
